Historic Waxcraft specializes in producing museum quality reproductions of historic seals. Seals were the wax impressions applied to documents, to validate and authenticate them as signatures do today, and have been used in one form or another for thousands of years.
We are able to offer collectors virtually exact casts taken from the originals as they adorned important documents and charters, such as the Magna Carta or the Louisiana Purchase. These reproductions are highly valued for their great historic and aesthetic value.
We have an extensive private collection of thousands of secular and ecclesiastic seals, both originals and casts from originals, from numerous countries around the world. Our reproductions are created from this collection. The original impressions we own and found in museum archives generally consist of waxes and resins. For authenticity sake we cast our reproductions using our own specialized wax-resin mixture with a melting point above 190ºF. This is a very durable, hard material that is able to deliver a perfect copy.
In addition we offer authentic reproductions of other antiquities including gingerbread and butter molds, Christmas ornaments, medieval ivories, and other historical art objects.
All of our reproductions make exquisite wall hangings or unique gifts for anyone who appreciates history or art. They all arrive to you with a description on the reverse side that includes titles, the dates of the documents or, in the case of rulers, the dates of reign. Hangers are embedded on the reverse for display on a wall or in a shadow box.
